Which is the best country to live on earth

Nowhere, every country sucks.

Solution:
Invade an uninhabited island, and become king of your own country!

Depends on what factors you value most. There are so many criteria by which to judge a country: general safety, road and transport infrastructure, travel and tourism infrastructure, general living comfort, cost, scenery, population density, architecture, history, cultural heritage, quality of museums and arts in general, friendliness of the people, freedom of expression, freedom of movement, taxes, quality of public transport, food quality, food availability, drinks quality, social atmosphere, education facilities and quality, work opportunities, typical work schedules and holidays and income and benefits, medical facilities and costs, sports facilities and costs, quality of nightlife and restaurants, justice system, police system, army service requirements, religious entities and varieties, social venues and support, special interest groups, political philosophy, economic philosophy, music and dance and entertainment styles, fauna, flora, weather, topography… I’m going to stop now, but I guess you’ve got my point. The answer to your question is tremendously subjective for a public forum like this with tens of millions of members from all over the world.

However I will humour you and offer my subjective opinion according to my personal values after having travelled around the world several times: Australia, Canada or France.

EDIT: Hey, Jake C, some great research you did there. I saw similar results from various agencies as well. But there’s one thing that I don’t think most evaluation agencies take into account, and that is: boredom. Taking that factor into account I think that the ratings of Norway and Switzerland would take a nose dive. I stand by my choices from my own personal experience.

Such a question depends heavily on your subjective opinion, but…

According to the Human Development Index, which approximates the standard of living for countries, the best countries to live in, in order, are Iceland, Norway, Canada, Australia, and Ireland.
The Quality-of-Life Index, a similar measurement, gives Ireland, Switzerland, Norway, Luxembourg, and Sweden as the best places to live on earth.
The Satisfaction with Life Index, yet another ranking system, gives Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Iceland, and The Bahamas.
The Prosperity Index gives Australia, Austria, Finland, Germany, and Singapore.
In terms of GDP per capita, Luxembourg, Norway, Qatar, Switzerland, and Denmark top the list.
Ranked in terms GDP per hour worked, we have Norway, the United States, Luxembourg, France, and Belgium.
Given the frequency they appear on these lists, I would say Norway or Switzerland would be the best country to live in on earth.

I’ve lived in Norway my whole life, and it sucks balls. According to recent year’s UN surveys, Norway is the best country to live in. IE, if it sucks here, then it has to suck everywhere else too, right?
