if you like sunny weather, you should check the Algarve, in Portugal. Really nice!

I will retire in Italy, the food is awesome, the people is fantastic and open, you have wonderful beaches all around and in winter you can go to the mountains with snow and stay in those romatic chateaux, the weather is also okay, warm in summer and a cold in winter, but the summer is very long, starts april til oct
plus you`ll have lots of arts and history to see, so you will stay young and busy and enjoying life!

I don't even know if it is possible to retire in Europe when you don't hold a EU citizenship! Plus if you get your retirement money in US Dollars, etc.. you'll have problems there because the Euro is pretty strong and it would be hard to make a living!
You might consider that :)
