whats the best country for a foreigner to live in Europe..?

by admin on January 28, 2009

ITALY
FRANCE
SPAIN
GERMANY
or
U.K?

any reasons?

What languages do you speak? What rights do you have to live in various countries? What are your reasons for moving? What climate do you prefer? What is your personality like? Do you eventually want a family? What education/skills do you have? What sort of career? What are your hobbies? What's important to you in life?

All these questions have to be taken into consideration. There's no blanket "best country" to live in. One country might be great for one person, but completely wrong for another. I personally love living in Norway (after living in the US, UK and Sweden) because it fits what I'm looking for. The UK was nice, but completely not what I was looking for.

If you don't speak another language though, I can say that the UK will be the easiest country to live in.

Where is the best country to live in Europe?

I think that any Ocidental Europe country will be good to live in. Sincerelly, I “don’t like” UK, maybe because of the climate… because I am get used to hot and sunny days in my beautifull country, Portugal :D
France, Italy and Germany seem to be perfect places, I have relatives there and I visit them so many times… are great countries with an high level of life.
To conclude, honestly, I do preferr my “small big” couuntry named Portugal, the Europe’s West Coast, where the sun shines every single day, where people keep their traditions (they are happy with that), and where life is perfect, sincerely, I do love my small piece of heaven, Portugal! :D
Bye, regards from Portugal

I have lived in Stockholm in Sweden, Lausanne in Switzerland, and Paris in France, and I had visits to Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Finland, …
I can tell you that Switzerland was the best place for me, and Sweden was the worst. In Sweden, if you are a foreigner and specially if you are not blond, you are not going to be accepted by the people.
On the other hand, French people are so friendly and social. They love it when you try to speak with them in French. People in Spain are also very friendly.

Canada is a great place to live if you don’t mind the cold winters ;0) People are friendly, crime is low, and each province has its own beauty and culture. Large cities are melting pots for people of other countries and everyone blends in. English and French are national languages but many here speak other languages and manage to get along fine. Note if you want to fit in… Be considerate and polite as those born here appreciate that. Canadians aren’t politically correct they’re are just nice to nice people. Quebec while being a beautiful province has problems with getting along with others. Sometimes they can be rude to guests. It is expensive to live here.

UK also has it’s own beauty with rolling hills, great pubs and social circles also has a somewhat lower standard of living compared to some other countries. The climate while somewhat rainy is moderate. The people are friendly and will try to go out of their way to ensure your comfort and orientation. Larger cities have high crime rates. It is expensive for residence, food or other necessities.

USA differs from state to state. The eastern seaboard has more crime than does the west and is humid compared to the dryer east with the exception of New Mexico which also has the largest crime rate in the US. Large cities are expensive to live in with some NewYork properties untouchable by average standards.
