would like to move and live and retire in another country

Costa Rica is both inexpensive and safe. It’s also a fascinating country with a fairly large ex-pat community already in place.

When I retire, can I leave country and still get social security?

It depends on your nationality, but assuming you’re from a "commonwealth" country, I recommend Uruguay.

Philippines or Thailand.

That would depend on how old you are now. Remember 60 year ago lots of places that we now consider safe weren’t, and vice versa.

Cheep also depends on how much money you have an what sort of lifestyle you’re after.

Why do you only talk about retiring in America ?

Why don’t you consider retiring in Bulgaria?
There are many reasons for this and the first consideration is a very low cost of living: Bulgaria is known to have the lowest cost of living almost anywhere in Europe.

British people moving to Bulgaria report that they feel much happier and safer on the streets than they did at home. Many Brits have come to Bulgaria for the summer and end up staying for much longer.

I’ve been visiting potential retirement locations for a number of years. Even creating a list of possibilities is a real job. That’s why I created my own “Expatriate Index” to help with narrowing down choices. It’s completely free! Take a look at http://www.nationalcyberservices.com/expat.html and let me know what you think.

you mean getting shot is safe? because that is relatively easy in costa rica with the avarice pandemic due to demographic clash between the native race and the self-proclaimed aristocracy (which includes the non-druggy tourists).
