What country in Europe is the best to raise family?

by admin on September 9, 2009

Hi, I live in US with a husband and 3 kids. I am thinking about living in Europe for a while in some quiet place, but close to the city. What is the best country to live with good schools, people, healthcare, culture, etc? May be UK or Switzerland?

On levels of family happiness based on Health care, Education, best income per head and so on then the Republic of Ireland is the best country not only in Europe but in the world.

However if you want to be in a rich and powerful country that is also a simply nice place to live then the United Kingdom, France or Germany are definitely the best. The UK has the best trained army in the world and is the 3rd trade capital of the world, France is cultural and also rich and Germany is very technologically advanced.

Overall I would say the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland are best, they are politically stable, extremely good with national defence and are simply nice countries.

It may seem strange but the countries of Liechtenstein or Luxembourg might also be of interest. They are absolutely tiny, Liechtenstein only has a population of 35,000 but is incredibly rich for its size. They are beutiful countries aswell, and you can be in the safe knowledge that almost noone outside of Europe even knows your country even exists. :D

Anyway it is all down to what you want – Europe prettymuch offers everything. I hope me weird topsy-turby answere has helped :)

Also contrary to what the above answerer said, Italy is great for holidays and rich people, but that is really it. Business freedom in Italy is one of the lowest in Europe.

I would honestly suggest the country I grew up in, Greece. It is the best place for a family life but it has some cons if you are from the USA and that is Greece hasn’t many big cities. In Athens and Salonica there are also brunches of the American School (Anatolia).
Another good place is Italy, in fact it is the place I would suggest you move, taking into consideration that you’re an American. In Italy you can find big cities, small cities, healthcare, culture, nice people.
