I lived and worked in Georgia for over three years (in the 90s and in 2001-2003) as well as a year in Armenia.
Pros: friendly people, interesting cuisine, great climate for growing fruit/vegetables (very lush soil and long seasons for produce); a coastline; mountains; great hiking opportunities; old churches; skiing; cheap wine; proud culture; great singing/music; unique language/alphabet; Tbilisi (capital) is a great city; and an earnest interest in relationships with the west and some of its neighbors.
Cons: electricity is still problematic and in winter, this can be awful without gas heat; separatist regions; over 250,000 displaced people from over a decade; corruption; crime; homophobia/xenophobia; uneasy ethnic tensions with some minorities; sometimes tense relationship with Russia over Abkhazia and Chechnya.
I loved Georgia, despite the frustrations — it's a very interesting culture in an unknown part of the world with a long history of invasions (and a culture that has kept its unique aspects while absorbing aspects of its conquerors). For anyone who enjoys the outdoors, it is a great country to live.
Give more details about what you are interested in and I might be able to give more specifics about that.
